Is also known as Oncilla, tiger cat is said to have a close genetic and physical resemblance with Ocelot and Margay. About two feet long with a tail and a half foot, it is longer than the domestic cat, but it weighs less - ranging from five to ten pounds.
Base color of the fur is yellowish brown. There are many dark spots and blotches on its body and limbs. Below the body is light and dark spots usually missing. The tail is ringed with black lace. Skull is small and narrow. Melanistic individuals are sometimes recorded, usually in dense woods, where the dark color can help in camouflage. Tiger Cat live at higher altitudes tend to have higher scores than lowland species of cats' bodies.
Solitary and nocturnal, the tiger cat is a good climber and often hunts birds. Mainstay is a terrestrial lifestyle, however, unlike the trees of the Margay apartment. Insects, rodents and reptiles are frequently hunted.
The dense forests of South American countries are home to the Little Spotted Cat, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.
